Go to the Head of the Line
Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee approached Jesus with her sons and did him homage, wishing to ask him for something. He said to her, "What do you wish?"
She answered him, "Command that these two sons of mine sit, one at your right and the other at your left, in your kingdom."
Jesus said in reply,
"You do not know what you are asking. but to sit at my right and at my left, this is not mine to give…..
the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve Mt 20:17-28
What is required more than praying, fasting, and giving alms and trying to live a holy life?
The ambitious Zebedee family think they can request a place of honor. But Jesus’ answer tells us what his life has told us.
We need to prepare to carry a cross, to give up our lives to serve others.
Lord, shape us through this lent that we will embrace the cross gladly for the love of those you love.
The more God lives in me, the more alive I am… the more I become like Him, who is Joy and Love itself.
