The Week in Review (June 16 - 21)

The Week in Review

12th Annual Golf Outing – This week was off to an awesome start with our 12th Annual Golf Outing at the Brookville Country Club!  Our “Tee Party” drew 110 golfers and an additional 78 for dinner.  The weather was spectacular, the food delicious and the golfing – well let’s just say all I saw were smiles.  For more details on the event along with mention of those deserving of recognition, please read my letter on page ## in this bulletin.  Pictures are on the parish website and the parish facebook page.

Vacation Bible School (SonTreasure Island) – Do you want to explore a tropical island, with its glittering turquoise waters, warm white sands, and cool ocean breezes? Visitors to SonTreasure Island are welcomed by the scent of exotic flowers, the taste of tropical fruits, and the captivating sound of island music. But this is no ordinary tropical escape! There is treasure to be found here. More precious than gold, more lasting than diamonds, it is the greatest treasure of all—God’s love! Set sail on this unique adventure to SonTreasure Isalnd – Register NOW!  For details, see the parish website or call the Faith Formation Office at (516)822-8348.

Feast of Corpus Christi – This week-end we celebrate the Feast of Corpus Christi as we remember the Last Supper, a simple meal at a simple table that Christ had with his close friends – His disciples.  Jesus took bread and wine, blessed them and said “This is my Body, This is my Blood.”  At the 10:30am Mass we will be joined by two of our children (NAMES) who will be invited to the table for the first time.  In addition, we will install three new Eucharistic Ministers.  Eucharistic Ministers assist the presider in distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ to the Faithful during Mass. What a more appropriate occasion to welcome our First Communicants and install our new ministers!

Serve the Lord with Gladness! – Our Lord said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.” (MT 9:38)  Consider responding to our Lord’s call to serve your parish as an altar server, lector or Eucharistic minister.  You can serve as little as one Mass a month.  Contact Fr. Valentine at FrVal.STPX@gmail.com or (516)938-3956.

Note of Gratitude – Lastweek Margaret Sargent informed me that she has decided to step down as cantor.  Please join me in thanking Margaret for her service to St. Pius X family.  We wish her well and pray that the Lord continues to bless her and her family.
