One door closes another one opens

One door closes another one opens

We are ‘closing’ the doors of mercy and praising Christ the King on the same Sunday.

The image of ‘closing’ the door of mercy is difficult for me. Then I remember that Jesus didn’t need a door to come into the upper room after his crucifixion.

Jesus was not a King as the Romans accused. Rather than luxurious kingly robes, gold and servants, Jesus crown was made of thorns, his throne was a crucifix and his arms were stretched out in the promise of mercy he made to his followers since Abraham.  His kingdom is in heaven. On earth he is He is Christ, the Kind.

May the closing of the door of mercy be yet another opening of the door of mercy in our hearts.  Join us as we give thanks and praise, for God’s mercy endures and rules forever!
