“You always hurt the one you love”.‏

There is a romantic song called “You always hurt the one you love”.

In this weekend’s 2nd reading, that is the message I get.

‘For whom the Lord loves, he disciplines;’ Hebrews 12

When I was in catholic grammar school, the nuns really pushed these scripture thoughts.

“For behold, some are last who will be first, and some are first who will be last.” Lk 13

As a result, I never sat in the front row in Church. I wasn’t worthy and I was ‘’waiting’ to be called up.

Well now, older and wiser, I sit in the front, because when God asks “I do not know where you are from.” Lk 13
I will say, ’ I was sitting in the front row. Didn’t you see me?’
